Now that we are getting (kind of) used to this whole pandemic thing, each day can start to feel like we are stuck in a rut. With limited access to friends, family, and the excitement of the outside world, it can be hard to stay motivated to perform to the best of our ability. Just like the trials and tribulations of “regular” life, it is important to use our God-given resilience to keep pushing and enjoy the simple yet beautiful moments in our lives. The hardest part of being resilient is the first time you have to pick yourself back up. If you can make it through the first time, then the times after that will get easier and easier until you realize that nothing can stop you. Here are some tips on how to remain resilient even through the toughest times: 1. What is your purpose? What gets you up in the morning? Is it your family? Is it your career? Or is it just your cute furry pet? Whatever it is, focus on the things that are the reason you do what you do. If you constantly remind yourself what your purpose is, it will help you follow through with the day-to-day tasks you must complete. 2. Make small goals: Progress is the key to happiness and fulfillment. As long as we feel we are making some sort of progress, we feel proud and motivated. Making and completing small goals are a great way to make progress. Have a goal to move for 30 minutes every day or to eat something green in each meal. Small goals add up! 3. Have a support system: It is important to be able to lean on others. If we keep our problems/feelings bottled up inside, it can make it hard to move forward. Find a person you can talk to who won’t judge and can help motivate you to keep going. We can’t do this by ourselves! 4. Take a break: It is okay to relax. I repeat, it is okay to relax. Setting a specific time in your day to do something relaxing is essential to maintaining resilience. 5. Embrace change: Change can be scary and unpleasant. However, if we learn to embrace change, it can’t affect us as dramatically as if we were to resist it. Life will never stay the way we want it. We must be able to flow with change and see the good in the differences that it makes. 6. Think back to when you overcame a problem and how it made you stronger: We have all had to conquer an obstacle in life. Thinking about how you were able to use resilience in the past will help you use it in the future. If you can do it once, you can do it again! Books on Resilience: Podcasts on Resilience:
